Odelia Younge

CO-FOUNDER

Odelia Younge (she/her) is a Black educator and writer born in the Caribbean, raised in the Midwest, and currently based in Oakland, California. Odelia’s passion for storytelling and cultivating spaces of belonging was birthed in her from the rich history of oral tradition and space-making in her family.

Odelia is driven by her faith, radical Black love, and the process of creating yourself to freedom — stripping away the stories others have forced upon you in order to reclaim and build your own narratives. Odelia cultivates the philosophy of creating yourself to freedom in her own life by writing, meditating, daydreaming, pretending to be a food blogger, sharing memes, and committing to rest.

Odelia earned a B.A. in History and Literature from Harvard University and an MPhil in Politics, Development and Democratic Education from the University of Cambridge, where her research and work focused on collective movements and resistance in marginalized communities. She has led work across the United States and other countries on transforming communities and education to be more equitable, inclusive and just, and building out spaces for creative expression.
